How to set up and manage Added Security
Added Security gives you extra protection when making bank transfers or withdrawing money from an Instant Access Savings Pot.
You can set daily allowances for how much you can transfer or withdraw before an extra security check is needed. These allowances don't change your existing payment limits.
Choose at least two security controls:
Known Locations: Save up to 5 places, like home or work, where you can approve transactions.
Trusted Contacts: Choose up to 3 people who use Monzo to check whether a transaction looks safe.
Secret QR Codes: Scan a personal QR code you've printed or stored securely on another trusted device.
You'll only need to pass one control when asked for an extra check. The others act as backups.
To set up Added Security:
Open the Monzo app and tap your profile.
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Added Security.
Set your daily allowances for bank transfers and savings withdrawals.
Choose at least two security controls.
Follow the instructions to complete setup.
To change your allowances or controls:
Return to Settings → Privacy & Security → Added Security.
Tap Edit next to the allowance you want to change, or manage your security controls.
Follow the instructions to confirm your changes.
You can add or remove controls, change or disable your allowances, or turn off Added Security. You'll need to complete a security check before making certain changes.
If you can't complete a security check, you can try another control. If none are available, you can verify your identity by recording a short video of yourself.
Scheduled payments: We'll ask you to complete an Added Security check when creating or editing a scheduled payment, rather than when it's due.
Joint accounts: Your controls only apply to transfers and savings withdrawals you personally make. Your joint account partner will need to set up their own controls.
