Identifying common scams

Impersonation Scams:

  • Family and Friends: Fraudsters will pretend to be a loved one and ask for money. If you're unsure, contact them by phone or video to check if the request is real.

  • Revenue Commissioners or Gardaí: The Revenue Commissioners and An Garda Síochána will never call you and pressure you to make a payment. If this happens, hang up immediately and contact them through their official website.

  • Internet Providers/Online Stores: Fraudsters will claim your account is compromised and ask you to move money. End the call and contact the company directly.

Investment Scams: Fraudsters will promise incredibly high returns for a small investment and pressure you to send larger amounts. Legitimate investments don't work this way and will never guarantee profits.
