How to transfer a balance after a death
This guide walks you through how to transfer the remaining balance from a customer's account. Before starting, you must first report the death.
Balance transfer steps vary based on how much money is in the account.
If the balance is below €25,000, you’ll need to fill out the indemnity form and provide the bank details for the transfer.
If the balance is over €25,000, in addition to the indemnity form, we’ll also need a grant of probate or letters of administration to transfer the money.
If you’re not sure about these documents, you can visit Citizens Information or contact your legal representative for guidance or reach out to our team at ie.support@monzo.com for support (or for general customer support not related to this help@monzo.com).
After we have everything we need, we can complete the transfer to your requested account. This usually takes around 5 business days
