What to do if a Monzo account holder dies

Start by Letting Us Know

The simplest way to get started is by filling out our form at monzo.com/bereavements or by emailing us at ie.support@monzo.com.

What we’ll need

When you contact us, share as much as possible of the following:

  • Full name, email, and phone number on the account

  • IBAN

  • A clear photo of the death certificate

Closing the account

We’ll always need an indemnity form if the account balance is above €100. The form should be filled out by the next of kin or a legal representative. For funeral costs, you can use money from the account. We will send the payment straight to the funeral directors, provided you can offer the final invoice from the funeral service.
