Monzo Business: Using expense cards
Expense cards are available with Business Team. They let team members spend from the business account while Admins keep control of access, limits and oversight.
How expense cards work
Expense Cardholders can use their card online or in person, including with Apple Pay or Google Pay where available.
Admins set spending limits for each Expense Cardholder. After making a payment, Expense Cardholders can add expense details, like receipts, descriptions and tax details where available.
Admins can view team spending and expense details in the app.
What Expense Cardholders can see and do
Expense Cardholders can only see their own card and spending.
They can:
use their expense card
view their own card and spending
freeze and defrost their own card
add receipts and expense details
request a spending limit increase from an Admin
order a replacement card
They can’t see or manage:
the business account balance
other team members or transactions
account settings
Pots
Monzo Web
statements
bank transfers
virtual cards
invoices or payment links
During Early Access, SEPA transfers, Direct Debits, invoices, payment links and bulk payments aren’t available.
Common reasons an expense card payment may decline
the card is frozen
the cardholder’s access is locked
a spending or cash withdrawal limit has been reached
cash withdrawals aren’t allowed for that cardholder
the payment type isn’t supported
there isn’t enough money in the business account
