Under 16s: Managing your child's card & account

As the parent or guardian, you have full control over your child's Monzo card and account.

Freezing and Defrosting the Card

If your child's card is lost, you can freeze it to prevent any payments being made. Your child can also freeze their own card if they have the app. If the card is found, you can easily unfreeze it and it will work normally again.

To do this:

  • Go to your Under 16s account in your app.

  • Tap the Card tab.

  • Tap Freeze card to freeze it or Defrost to unfreeze it.

Ordering a New Card

If the card is lost or stolen, only you as the parent or guardian can order a replacement.

To order a new card:

  1. Go to your Under 16s account in your app.

  2. Tap the three dots on their card.

  3. Tap Order new card.

You get two free card replacements each calendar year. After that, itโ€™s โ‚ฌ5 per replacement.

Please note, there is no fee if: expired, faulty on arrival, stolen, ATM-swallowed, or cancelled by us for suspected fraud.
