Under 16s: Family controls and safeguards

You can add a family member to help you manage your child's Monzo account. This person must be over 18, have a Monzo account, and share a caring and financial responsibility with you.

What a family member can do:

  • Add money to the card.

  • View card activity and notifications.

  • Freeze and defrost the card.

What only the main account holder can do:

  • Add or remove other family members.

  • Move money out of the account.

  • Set spending limits and grant app access.

To add a family member:

  1. Make sure the person you're inviting has their phone number "findable" in their app's Privacy & security settings.

  2. In your app, go to the Under 16s account.

  3. Tap the three dots on the card, then select Manage account.

  4. Under Helping with this account, tap Add a family member.

  5. Select which children the family member can help with and follow the instructions to send the invitation.
