What your child can do with their account

Your child gets their own version of the Monzo app, with features designed for Under 18s.

Your child can

  • see their balance and activity

  • use their card in shops and online, within the limits set for their account

  • view their card details and billing address

  • use Pots, if available

  • freeze their card if it's lost or stolen

  • customise their profile picture, wallpaper and app icon

  • use Apple Pay or Google Pay from age 14, if available and their device supports it

Payments from age 14

Once you've switched on payments and your teen has completed their payments identity check, they can send and receive SEPA Standard and SEPA Instant euro payments using their own IBAN and BIC.

They can also activate Bizum separately using their own Spanish mobile number. Once it's active, they can send and receive money with Bizum within the daily sending limit you set.

Your child can't

They can't:

  • make non-SEPA international payments

  • set up Direct Debits

  • send Bizum payment requests or invitations

  • change their own spending or sending limits

  • order a new card

  • open other Monzo accounts

  • contact us directly about their account

If your child has a question, they should speak to you first. If they still need help, you can contact us for them.
