Opening an under 18s account

You'll need a Monzo current account before you can open an under 18s account for your child.

To open one:

  1. Tap the + sign on the top right of your Home screen.

  2. If you don't see it, tap Explore, then Accounts and plans.

  3. Choose Under 18s account.

  4. Follow the steps in the app.

During sign-up, we'll ask for a few details about your child, including their date of birth. They must be between 6 and 17 years old.

We'll also ask you to upload ID for your child. The document you need depends on their nationality:

  • Spanish citizens: DNI (Documento Nacional de Identidad)

  • EU/EEA or Swiss citizens: passport or national identity card

  • If they're not any of the above: passport or TIE (Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero)

If the document is expired, damaged, or the details don't match what you entered during sign-up, we may not be able to accept it. We'll let you know in the app if we need anything else.
