Opening a joint account
A joint account is a separate account that you share with another person. It's designed to make managing shared finances easy, whether you're a couple, roommates, or family.
To get started:
Tap the Home icon in the menu bar.
Tap the + on the top right of the screen.
Tap Apply for a joint account.
You can either choose a co-owner from your contacts or tap Invite someone to generate a unique link. Just so you know, the link expires within 24 hours for security reasons.
What to do if the invitation link isn't working:
Make sure both of you are running the latest version of the Monzo app.
Both of you must have Find profile by phone number switched on under Privacy & Security.
To open a joint account, you must both already have personal Monzo accounts in the country where the joint account is being opened.
The phone number you have for them must be the same one they have on their Monzo account, including the country code.
A few things to note:
You can only open a joint account if you already have a personal account with us.
We also can't convert a joint account into a personal one. If one person wants to close the joint account, we will close it for both of you.
