What are “Targets” in Trends and how do I use them?

What are “Targets” in Trends?

‘Targets’ in Trends helps you set how much you want to spend each month and keep track of your progress on an interactive graph.

You can set a single overall spending target for the month as well as spending targets for any, or all, of your categories! (Note: you can’t set a target for a category which you are excluding from your overall target)

Monzo Plus and Premium users can track spending across non-Monzo accounts too. They’ll also see a range of personalised suggested targets based on their past spending and savings goals.

How do I edit my Target?

Click on Trends at the bottom of the app and select “Target”. Tap the down arrow at the top of the screen and click “edit target”

Can I add a pot to my Target?

At the moment users can only track spending from Pots in their target if they have a virtual card attached to it. This is currently only available to Plus/Premium users.

My Target doesn’t look right

Try checking that bills, savings and transfers to other accounts are in the correct category. A good place to start is your “General” category because transactions we don’t recognise in a category are put there.

Tap on the transaction then on the category icon to change it. Monzo transactions can be categorised in bulk which speeds things up. If this still doesn’t look right please reach out to us in chat so we can take a look into this further.

Can I select different time periods?

You can only set monthly Targets in Trends at the moment.

If you have any particular feedback about different time periods we could offer please reach out via chat and we’ll pass it onto the Product team.
