What happens after an account is closed

If we've had to close your personal account, you’ll no longer be able to receive or send money from it. You’ll need to redirect any income or bills to a new account.

  • Pots and features: You’ll no longer be able to access features like Pots or Trends.

  • Outstanding money: We’ll use any money you had in your account, including in Pots, to pay down any outstanding overdraft you had. You’ll then still need to repay any remaining overdraft balances.

  • New account: We can't reopen or offer you a new Monzo account right now. The Citizens Information Board website has information on how to open one with another bank
