Switching your joint account
You can easily switch your accounts to Monzo - including your joint account. At Monzo we’ve teamed up with the Current Account Switch Service so switching your account is a breeze.
What’s the Current Account Switch Service?
The Current Account Switch Service is a not-for-profit organisation that lets people move quickly and easily between bank accounts.
No trips to the bank. No messing with ID and statements. You just need to tell us when you want to move, and we'll do the rest in 7 working days. We’ll move your money and payments (like Direct Debits and standing orders), and close down your old account for you.
Which accounts can I switch to Monzo?
Current Accounts: You can switch your current account to a Monzo current account. However, it's not possible to switch an old joint account to a Monzo current account.
Joint accounts: You can switch both current and joint accounts to a Monzo joint account.
Business Accounts: You can switch both sole trader and Limited Company accounts to a Monzo Business account.
What you’ll need before you switch:
The account number and sort code of the account you want to switch from
The last 5 digits of your old account's card
The last 5 digits of your partner's old card
How to switch in the app:
If you’ve switched to our new home layout:
Go to the home screen in the app and tap on the blue ‘+’ button at the top right hand corner, select ‘switch to Monzo’ and follow the process.
If you’ve not switched to our new home layout yet:
If you're in your joint account at the moment:
Tap the 'Home' tab at the bottom of the app
Tap the circle with your face on, top left
Scroll down to 'Do more with Monzo'
Tap 'Switch to Monzo' and follow the process
If you're in your current account, you'll need to change to your joint account first:
Tap the Home icon in the menu bar
Tap your profile picture in the top left of the screen
Tap on your joint account
Scroll down to 'Do more with Monzo'
Tap 'Switch to Monzo' and follow the process
