Managing your child's card & account

As the primary parent or guardian, you manage your child's card and account from your Monzo app.

Only you can:

  • move money

  • manage card controls

  • change spending limits, where available

  • order a replacement card

  • manage who can help with the account, if family controls are available

You and a co-parent you add can:

  • add money

  • see money movements

  • receive notifications

  • freeze or defrost the card

Freezing or defrosting the card

If your child's card is lost, you, a co-parent you added or your child can freeze it in the app so it can't be used. If you find it again, you can defrost it.

To freeze or defrost the card:

  1. Open your child's account.

  2. Go to the Card tab.

  3. Tap Freeze card or Defrost card.

Ordering a replacement card

Only you can order a replacement card for your child.

To order one:

  1. Open your child's account.

  2. Tap the three dots on your child's card.

  3. Choose the replacement card option.

  4. Follow the steps in the app.

Your first two replacement cards each year are free. After that, replacement cards cost €5. We won't charge for a replacement if the card expired, arrived faulty, was stolen, was swallowed by an ATM, or was cancelled by Monzo for suspected fraud.
