Monzo Business: Verifying beneficial owners

A beneficial owner or company controller is usually someone who owns or controls a significant part of the business.

For sociedades limitadas, this may include people who own shares, voting rights, or have significant control over the company.

We may need to check the company documentation and their identity to complete account opening.

If we ask for a beneficial owner or company controller’s details or ID, it’s important to send them. If we don’t receive what we need, we might not be able to open the account.

What we may ask for

We may ask for:

  • a valid ID, such as a passport or national ID card

  • date of birth

  • country of residence

  • personal address

  • email address

  • phone number

You’ll also need to confirm they’ve agreed to share this information.

If they’re already a Monzo customer, we may be able to verify some information ourselves.
