Closing an Under 18s account
Only the parent or guardian who opened the under 18s account can close it. Your child can’t close the account themselves.
Before you close the account, make sure you understand what will happen to the card, app access and any money left in the account.
When the account closes:
your child’s card will stop working
your child will lose access to the account in their app
any remaining money will be moved according to the option shown in the closure flow
To close an under 18s account:
Open your child’s account in your Monzo app.
Go to Settings or Manage account.
Choose the option to close the account.
Follow the steps in the app.
Eligible deposits are protected up to €100,000 per person, per bank. For under 18s accounts, this limit is combined with your other eligible deposits at Monzo.
