Monzo Business: Using expense cards

Expense cards, which are available on our Team plan, are a great way to let team members spend while you maintain control over the business budget.

How They Work:

Your team members can use their expense card for online or in-person purchases, including with Apple Pay or Google Pay. After each payment, they will be prompted to add a receipt and a short summary, so you have a complete overview. As an Admin, you can view your team's spending history in the app at any time.

Freezing vs. Locking a Card:

If a team member misplaces their card, they can temporarily freeze it. They can then unfreeze it themselves if they find it. If a card is locked, it's a more permanent action. Only an Admin or our support team can unlock a locked card.

Help with an Expense Card Decline:

If an expense card payment is declined, here are some common reasons: Spending Limits: The card may have reached its monthly spending limit or ATM withdrawal limit.

  • Cash Withdrawals: Your team member may not be allowed to withdraw cash with their card.

  • Account Balance: The business account may need more money.

  • Frozen or Locked Card: The expense card may be frozen or locked by an Admin.
