Monzo Business: Using expense cards
Expense cards (available on Business Team) are a simple way to let team members spend while keeping control of the business budget.
How they work
Team members can use their expense card online or in person, including with Apple Pay or Google Pay. After each payment, they may be prompted to add a receipt and a short note, so everything stays organised.
Admins can view team spending in the app.
Freezing vs locking a card
Freeze: a temporary option if someone thinks they’ve misplaced their card. They can unfreeze it if they find it.
Lock: a more permanent option. Only an Admin or Monzo support can unlock a locked card.
If an expense card payment is declined
Common reasons include:
the card has reached a spending or cash withdrawal limit
cash withdrawals aren’t allowed for that cardholder
there isn’t enough money in the business account
the card is frozen or locked
