Using an Under 18s Monzo card abroad

Your child can use their card abroad anywhere Mastercard is accepted.

We pass Mastercard's exchange rate directly on to you, without hidden fees or markups, and we won't block the card just because it's used abroad.

Cash withdrawals abroad

The ATM withdrawal limit is €100 a day, and ATM withdrawals count towards the child's total daily limit.

Things to remember

  • Spending limits stay the same abroad as they do in Spain.

  • ATMs may charge their own fees, which we don't receive.

  • Always choose to pay or withdraw in the local currency to avoid ATM markups.

  • The card may be declined if there isn't enough money in the account or if your child has reached a limit.

Only the parent or guardian can review or change these limits. To check or adjust them:

  1. Open your child's account in your Monzo app.

  2. Tap the three dots on your child's card.

  3. Tap Manage account.

  4. Select Spending limits.
