All about the under 16s account

Our Under 16s account is a free account for children aged 6-15 that’s linked to your Monzo current account. As the parent or guardian, you'll be the account owner, and any money in the account legally belongs to you.

With an Under 16s account:

  • Your child gets their own neon card to use in-person and online.

  • They can see their balance and activity in a child-friendly version of the app.

  • You can keep an eye on things, set spending limits, and schedule pocket money.

  • Deposit Guarantee Scheme (DGS) covers eligible deposits up to €100,000 per person, per bank; for Under 16s, this limit is combined with the parent’s other eligible deposits at Monzo

Account verification:

To verify your child's details, we need a photo of an ID document, like a birth certificate or passport. The legal name on the ID must match the name you give during account sign-up. We cannot accept expired or damaged ID documents.
