How to Earn Cashback:
Earning cashback is simple:
Use your Monzo card to pay at an eligible merchant. This can be your physical Monzo card, a virtual card, or your Monzo card via Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Purchases can be made either in-person or online.
What’s Not Eligible for Cashback:
Cashback is only awarded for card payments. The following are not eligible:
Payments made via bank transfer.
Payments processed through third-payment apps (eg. Venmo, Cash App, Apple Cash).
Receiving Your Cashback:
You will receive your cashback instantly. You’ll typically see the cashback amount deposited into your account within seconds of making an eligible purchase. No waiting days or weeks like other cashback offers.
Understanding How Purchases Qualify: The Role of Merchant Categories
To determine what transactions are eligible, we rely on the merchant themselves. Merchants tell us what category to use for each transaction, and we use that to determine if it’s a Grocery or Eating Out purchase.
Sometimes transactions can categorize differently than expected - for example, a café inside a bookstore, or a convenience store that sells some groceries. These merchants’ categorization might differ from what you expect, and won’t qualify as a Grocery or Eating Out purchase.
It’s the merchant’s category that we use to determine eligibility, so even if you change the category in the app it won’t impact the cashback eligibility.
