Only sole traders (autónomos) or directors/authorised representatives of registered Spanish companies can apply. Ts&Cs apply.

You can use Monzo Business for up to three of your businesses, provided that the following criteria and our Terms & Conditions are met.

If you meet the criteria you can apply, but it doesn't guarantee that you'll get an account.

Business types we support right now

You can apply if you're:

  • a sole trader (autónomo), or a director/authorised representative of a registered Spanish company (e.g., an S.L.);

  • resident in Spain;

  • 18+; and

  • able to provide supporting documents evidencing your registration as a sole trader with the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT) or Social Security, or your status as a director or representative recorded with the Commercial Registry, for example through a registry certificate or public deed.

Important: Your Monzo Business account is for business purposes only (business/professional/trade activity).

If you're a company, to be eligible your business should:

  • be duly registered and active (not dissolved/struck off);

  • have at least one active director or authorised representative with authority to act;

  • make money mostly from selling goods and/or providing services (not mostly from interest/investment income); and

  • have a business set-up we can support (we may not support complex structures or multi-jurisdiction arrangements at the moment).

We'll also verify the people who own or control your business (e.g., beneficial owners and other controllers) as part of sign-up.

Business types we can't support right now

We can't currently offer accounts to:

  • civil partnerships, communities of property or other similar structures

  • charities, foundations and associations

  • trusts or funds

  • clubs or other entities without legal personality

  • public bodies and similar entities

  • other complex or uncommon legal forms that require different customer acceptance or operational rules

We may support more types in future, but right now we're focusing on the most common business set-ups.

Other reasons we might not be able to support you

  • If your business is based, registered, or tax resident outside Spain, we may not be able to offer you an account right now.

  • For security and verification reasons, please apply while you're in Spain. We may not be able to complete sign-up if your location appears inconsistent (for example, due to VPN/proxy use).

  • We don't allow Monzo Business to be used as a client money / escrow / trust account (i.e., holding money on behalf of someone else — for example, solicitors holding client funds).

Industries we can't support (regardless of business type)

Certain industries require extra checks and controls, and we're currently focusing on businesses that don't need these. We can't support:

  • currency exchanges including virtual currencies, and money services businesses

  • mining and quarrying

  • defence, weapons, and weapons manufacturing/selling

  • consumer credit, lending money, or similar finance activity

  • gambling and betting

  • regulated or unregulated financial investment, loan, FX or banking businesses

  • precious metals and stones

  • inheritance management and estate administration services

  • illegal or unlicensed drugs, and certain high-risk controlled products (including some CBD businesses)

  • shell companies

  • unlicensed scrap metal trading or waste management without the required authorisations

  • used automotive vehicles

  • bidding fee auctions

  • certain types of manufacturing

  • financial and insurance activities

  • public administration and defence / compulsory social security

  • extraterritorial organisations and bodies

If your industry isn't mentioned above, you can apply — but a heads up: we may still reject some businesses in line with our internal risk and compliance policies.
