I signed up with a referral link, how come I haven’t gotten my reward?

The easiest way to find out why you may not have earned a reward yet is to tap the 🎁 icon on your app’s home page. Using the information there, you can see if you are running into any of the common issues we see:

First, make sure you signed up using an eligible link 🔗

Using the 🎁 icon on your app’s home page - you should see a button labeled “Your referral status”. If you don’t see that button - you likely did not sign up with a referral link correctly, or you signed up using a referral link that is not eligible for any promotions.

Common reasons that a referral link may not go through correctly are either:

  • You signed up for Monzo by downloading the Monzo app directly without going through someone’s invite link

  • The phone number you entered on the referral invite was different than the phone number you used when actually signing up. You need to use the same phone number through the whole process to make sure things get tracked correctly

  Unfortunately, if either of these are the case for your referral - we are not able to provide a credit.

If you signed up with a valid referral link - you may still need to complete the required steps to earn your reward

Every promotion we run has it’s own set of required steps that we ask you to complete before you earn the advertised rward. These steps should be made clear throughout our app and website.

Using the 🎁 icon on your app’s home page - you should see a button labeled “Your referral status”. On that page, you can check what exact steps you still need to complete

📤 Our current $20 promotion requires you to complete the following steps:

  1. Sign up for Monzo using an eligible link  

  2. Add at least $10 to your account   Please note that the following categories do not count towards this requirement:

    • direct transfers from other Monzo customers

    • money earned by referring others to Monzo (i.e. referral rewards)  

  3. Spend at least $10 with your Monzo card   Please note that the following spending categories do not count towards this requirement:

    • third party transfer apps like Cash App, Venmo, Apple Cash, etc.

    • ATM withdraws

    • cryptocurrency transactions

    • gambling websites/locations

    • gift cards purchases

    • payments with your account/routing number

    • direct transfers to other Monzo customers

    • certain digital goods and professional services may not qualify

  4. The above steps must all be completed within 14 days of when you first enter your phone number on the referral link   Lastly, once you confirm that you have done the previously mentioned steps - you should see your referral reward paid in to your account within a couple of days ⬇️

 

If you don’t see the money deposit into your account after a few days, we would recommend double checking the previous steps. You can also check with the person who sent you the original referral link. In their app, they can go to the same 🎁 screen and check the status of each of the referrals they sent. From there, they can make sure they see you listed and see which steps you still need to complete.
