How long do bank transfers take?

The speed of a bank transfer will depend a lot on how the transfer was set up.

🏦 ACH Transfers

Most of the time, if you set up a transfer inside the Monzo app or with your account and routing number - the transfer will be sent as an ACH transfer.

ACH transfers are the most common type of bank transfer in the US. But, because of the way ACH is designed, they can take up to 2-4 business days to go through (though it's often quicker than that).

During that period - you may see that money leaves one account a day or two before it reaches its destination 📆

ℹ️ Please note: On weekends and federal holidays, ACH transfers can take longer - since they only move during standard business hours.

🏃‍♂️ Instant Deposits

There are two you can add money to Monzo instantly.

First inside the Monzo app - you can tap the Add money button on the home screen, then choose Debit card. This will let you link one debit card from another bank which can be used to instantly add money to Monzo.

ℹ️ Please note: While you can instantly add money this way, you can not instantly send money back to your linked card.

Alternatively, if you use another app or bank that lets you instantly transfer money (like Cash App, Venmo, or Zelle) - you can link your Monzo card to receive these deposits. If you have questions on how to set up these services - we recommend reaching out to the other service directly.
