Make the most of Shared Tabs and Bill Splits


You can split bills individually or add multiple bills to a Shared Tab so that you can keep track of who owes what.

How do I create a Shared Tab?

  1. Head to the Payments tab in your app

  2. Scroll down to __Shared Tabs (if you can’t see that, tap on Shared in the top right corner)

  3. Tap Create a new tab

  4. Give your Shared Tab a name and pick the people you’d like to add from your contacts, or using Nearby Friends.

  5. Tap Add to add payments you want to share

  6. When you’re ready to settle, tap Pay Tab

__If your Payments tab looks a little different, you can do the following: __

  1. head to the Payments tab in the app

  2. scroll down to the Shared Payments section

  3. tap Split Payment or tap on the 3 dots

  4. tap Create a Shared Tab

  5. give your Shared Tab a name, and pick the people you’d like to add from your contacts list. Or you can choose anyone around you using ‘Nearby Friends’

  6. tap add to add payments you want to share.

  7. When you’re ready to settle, tap Pay Tab

By default we’ll split the payments evenly, but you can adjust the amount yourself too. You can also add payments directly from your details screen.

How do I split a bill?

  1. Tap on the relevant payment from your list of transactions and then you should see Split this bill in the available actions

  2. Pick who to split the bill with from Nearby Friends or Monzo contacts. If your friends aren't on Monzo tap Next then Add someone not on Monzo.

  3. Choose to split the bill equally or edit the amounts.

  4. Tap Request money. Your friends on Monzo will get a notification to accept the request. If they aren't on Monzo, you can tap Share a request link and choose how you want to send it.

How do I find my existing bill splits?

  1. Go to the Payments tab

  2. Scroll down to Bill Splits and Requests- if you can’t see that then tap on shared on the top right

If your payments tab looks a little different,

  1. Go to the payments tab

  2. Scroll down to Shared Payments

  3. You can see your existing splits here, if you have more than 3 shared payments you can scroll and select see all

How do I cancel a bill split?

You can only withdraw a bill splitting request if the person you're splitting the bill with is a Monzo customer too.

To cancel it, just tap on the Edit option next to the request and you're all done.

You cannot cancel a bill splitting request with non-Monzo customers.
